Howlfair is a tourist town without tourists. Although it tries to market its terrifying past with cartoony costumes and silly reenactments, the visitors are staying away in droves. But a mayoral election looms, and one of the candidates is running on a platform to make Howlfair scary again. The townspeople think this will bring more money into the village. But twelve-year-old Molly, her cat, and her maybe-a-werewolf best friend think he’s up to no good. They try hard to prove it, battling Molly’s clumsiness, her less-than-stellar reputation, her mother’s increasingly inventive punishments, and the class bully.

Hilarious, ingenious plot; great characters; and madcap pacing. A fantastic, spooky read!
