I spent a great weekend at Crime Bake, a mystery writers’ conference hosted by the New England chapters of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America. I met other aspiring writers and tried not to be too starstruck around published authors. I listened to reviewers, editors, and agents. I talked books with other readers. It seemed as though everyone who loves mystery books and was able to travel to the Boston area to talk about them was there! My favorite stories? The author who researched being buried alive by locking himself in a casket and the private investigator who started this line of work at the tender age of 15. And you thought writers were boring!
